Canada denies visa for Iranian director Alireza Amini
TEHRAN, Sept. 19 (MNA) -- The Canadian Embassy in Tehran refused issuing a visa for Iranian director Alireza Amini to join the jury of the Second Iranian International Film Festival in Toronto.
Amini, whose recent film “Seven Minutes to Autumn” was on screen at Montreal theaters, is on the five-member jury of the festival which will be held from September 20 to 25.
“Although I received a letter of invitation from the festival’s officials, the Canadian Embassy refuses to issue a visa for me despite the fact that I have traveled to the country many times,” he told the Persian media.
Amini went on to say that he submitted his “letter of protest” to the embassy’s officials but they “do not announce their reasons for not issuing a visa”.
