Iran heads for FIBA Asia U18 Championship
TEHRAN, Sept. 20 (MNA) -- Iran basketball team traveled to Sana'a, capital of Yemen to take part in the 21st FIBA Asia Under 18 Championship which will be held from September 22 to October 2.
The defending champion, Iran, has been drawn in Group A of the 21st FIBA Asia Championship along with Taiwan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.
Sixteen Asian teams divided into four groups will compete in the tournament and the top three teams from each group will advance to the second round of the championship.
The top three teams at championship will represent FIBA Asia at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship to be played in Latvia from June 30 to July 10, 2011.
Groupings:
Group A: Taiwan, Iran, Malaysia, Sri Lanka
Group B: Kazakhstan, South Korea, Lebanon, Qatar
Group C: China, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Syria
Group D: India, Iraq, Japan, Yemen
