Smuggled goods seizure reaches $300 million: Iran police
SANANDAJ, Sept. 21 (MNA) – The value of goods seized through closure of borders has reached over 300 million dollars, Iran's deputy police chief Ahmad Reza Radan announced on Monday.
Radan made the remarks on the sidelines of a drug smuggling conference in Sanandaj, the capital of Kordestan province, on Sunday in an interview with the Mehr News Agency.
During his speech in the conference, Radan emphasized the need to draw up a comprehensive plan based on the condition of each border city in fight against the smuggling of goods to the country.
Cultural and geographical features of each city must be taken into account in devising such a plan, he opined.
Radan added the trafficking of goods would hurt domestic economy.
