Blast hits city in northwest Iran, 7 killed
URMIA, West Azarbaijan Province, Sept. 22 (MNA) – A powerful blast happened near a military parade in the northwestern Iranian city of Mahabad on Wednesday, killing 7 people and injuring 20 people.
The incident happened near the place where a military parade was being held.
West Azarbaijan Governor Vahid Jalalzadeh said all the victims of this cowardly act were women and children.
Jalalzadeh told the Mehr News Agency correspondent in Urmia that the blast happened among women who were present at the scene to watch the military parade.
The parade was held to mark the Sacred Defense Week. No military force was killed in the terror act.
Local officials have pointed the finger at anti-revolutionary elements for the vicious act.
