Ahmadinejad meets Arab League chief, warns against Israeli plots

TEHRAN, Sept. 22 (MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called on the Muslim world to maintain unity in the face of the Zionist regime’s plots.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a meeting with Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.

Commenting on a proposed purely Jewish regime in the Middle East, Ahmadinejad said in such a case around 1.5 million native Arabs living in pre-1948 borders will be displaced and a new war will break out in the region.

Powerful country

Amr Moussa described Iran as a "powerful" country in the Middle East, saying the Arab League seeks to promote its relation with the Islamic Republic.

On anti-Iran sanctions, Moussa noted the West intended to pressure Iran through sanctions, but it was all in vain.

Cuba dismisses Castro’s suggestions to Ahmadinejad

Ahmadinejad also held talks with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Tuesday. In the meeting, Rodriguez dismissed news that Fidel Castro has made suggestions to the Iranian president concerning the Holocaust issue.

Certain news media have launched a propaganda campaign against Castro because he has expressed his solidarity with Iran against any military attack on the country, Rodriguez stated.

The Cuban foreign minister handed over a letter to Ahmadinejad in which Castro had reaffirmed his long-held stance toward Iran.

The president said Iran highly respects Fidel Castro, adding the enemies seek to mar the image of the revolutionary figures including Castro.

President Ahmadinejad also met with his Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales and explored ways how to expand bilateral cooperation.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ahmadinejad held separate talks with Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba and King of Swaziland Mswati III.
