Iran defeats Kazakhstan in FIBA Asia Championship
SANA’A, Yemen, Sept. 26 (MNA) -- Iran basketball team cruised past Kazakhstan in the 21st FIBA Asia U18 Championship on Saturday.
The defending champion won 94-78 in Group E. Iran has overpowered China Taipei, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia in the preliminary round.
Iran’s Siamak Torabikhah, who had only three points in the first quarter, went on to lead the scoring for the game with 24 points.
“They were as good as us,” Iran coach Mohsen Sadeghzadeh said.
Iran went in with an average height of their starting five at 198.2cm against Kazakhstan’s 197.4cm.
Iran is scheduled to play South Korea on Sunday.
Kazakhstan will play Malaysia on Sunday.
