‘Leader told administration, MPs to seek consensus on 5-year plan’

TEHRAN, Sept. 28 (MNA) - MP Jafar Qaderi says the Supreme Leader met with the president, the Majlis speaker, and a number of lawmakers to discuss the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan before the administration decided to withdraw the plan.

At the meeting, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei criticized the administration’s decision to withdraw the plan, Qaderi told the Mehr News Agency on Sunday.

The Leader said the decision was not “well thought-out” and advised the administration and the parliament to work together to reach an agreement on the five-year plan, the MP added.

He went on to say that it was agreed that a joint committee, consisting of officials from the Majlis and the administration, would study the plan in order to determine its problematic points and find ways to rectify them.

Iran’s Fifth Five-Year Development Plan (2010-2015) is part of the 20-Year Outlook Plan (2005-2025), which is the country’s main blueprint for long-term sustainable growth.
