Iran’s education minister attends WCECCE meeting in Moscow

TEHRAN, Sept. 29 (MNA) -- Iranian Education Minister Hamidreza Hajibabaii has travelled to Russia to attend the first-ever World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education in Moscow.

The conference is held from September 27-29 by UNESCO under the name of “Building the Wealth of Nations”.

Many officials and delegations from more than one hundred countries and international organizations have attended the conference.

Five commissions are held on the sidelines of the conference and the Iranian education minister will manage one of them with the theme of “training pre-school children in crisis and after that”.

Other subjects which are examined in commissions are policies and approaches for education of pre-school children, health care, social and educational supports, and problems children face after earthquake, war, and violence.

WCECCE’s main goals are:

* Reaffirm ECCE as a right of all children and as the basis for development;
* Take stock of the progress of member states towards achieving the EFA Goal 1;
* Identify binding constraints toward making the intended equitable expansion of access to quality ECCE services;
* Establish, more concretely, benchmarks and targets for the EFA Goal 1 toward 2015 and beyond
* Identify key enablers that should facilitate member states to reach the established targets; and
* Promote global exchange of good practices.
