MP says Europeans issued visa at Tehran airport, why not Iranians

TEHRAN, Oct. 3 (MNA) – An MP has revealed that European nationals who visit Iran get their visa at Imam Khomeini airport in Tehran and 15 lawmakers has decided to ask the foreign minister why European countries do not provide the same privilege to Iranian nationals.

MP Mahmoud Ahmadi-Biqash said Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki will attend the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee next week to explain about it.

“Instead of receiving visa at Iran’s embassies abroad they get visa at Imam Khomeini Airport,” Ahmadi-Biqash told the Mehr News Agency.

Except Britons all other European nationals obtain visa at the airport in Tehran and this is true for those British nationals who visit Iran from other European countries.

He went on to say that until now no European national has ever faced any restrictions in obtaining visas at Imam Khomeini Airport.

MP Hassan Malek-Mohammadi has also said Mottaki should explain about the bad behavior of the German embassy staff with Iranians.

He cited misconduct toward an Iranian woman by the Germany embassy staff in Tehran a few months ago.

“There have been many cases of misconduct toward Iranian citizens by the German embassy in Tehran,” Malek-Mohammadi told MNA.

MP also noted that in an illegal action the embassy didn’t grant him visa even though he had been officially invited to the country by the German federal parliament.
