Iran hanges eight drug smugglers
KERMAN, Iran, Oct. 9 (MNA) – Eight drug smugglers were hanged in a prison in the southeastern city of Kerman on Thursday.
Two of the smugglers were convicted of smuggling 1,165 kilos opium, selling weapons and ammunition; one was convicted of partnership in smuggling 7,700 grams heroin; the other found convicted of taking action against national security through purchasing, storing, distributing and selling 4,800 kilos of opium and 150 kilos morphine.
The other smuggler was proved guilty of purchasing and storing 580 kilos of opium and the last culprit was pled guilty to membership in a smuggler gang as well as smuggling 2,317 kilos opium.
