Iran to help rebuild infrastructures, houses in Pakistan
TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) -- Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar announced on Sunday that Iran plans to rebuild infrastructures and houses in Pakistan.
Devastating floods, which affected more than 17 million, damaged houses, bridges, roads, canal systems, dams, railways, telephone and electricity networks in Pakistan.
He said sending aid to the flood-hit country is underway as lots of aid has been collected for the purpose.
The interior minister added that so far Iran has sent 5,300 tons of aid to the neighboring country.
Iran’s largest humanitarian aid convoy arrived in Pakistan on October 2.
The aid, which was transported by 150 trucks and 30 freight cars, was worth 10 million dollars and weighs 3000 tons.
The aid cargo - containing food, tent, blanket, medicine, home appliances, and water - was sent to Pakistan through border near the southeastern city of Zahedan.
Iran’s Red Crescent has set up 24 relief camps and 7 clinics and now Iranian physicians, nurses, and relief workers are giving services to Pakistanis.
