Tehran-Berlin relations should not be undercut: German ambassador
TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – Germany’s ambassador to Iran, Brand Erbel, has said that Berlin-Tehran relations should not be undermined.
Erbel made the remarks in a meeting with Ali Adiani, the head of Iran-Germany parliamentary friendship group on Sunday.
Historical relations between the two countries have always been amicable, Erbel stated.
The top German diplomat in Tehran added that Iran has great potential for making progress in all areas, expressing hope the two countries can utilize the potential to their own benefit.
Adiani, for his part, said parliamentary relations between the countries would help expand ties.
However, Iran-Germany relations have not been at a satisfactory level in recent years, he said, adding German officials should not let any country to influence the amicable ties between the two nations.
Media propaganda against Iran is not real
Erbel described the media propaganda against Iran as “unrealistic” and said efforts should be made to clear any misunderstanding in this regard.
The political disputes between Iran and the West should be resolved through interactions, and that the old and friendly ties between the two countries should not be damaged, the ambassador said in a separate meeting with Gholam Ali Hadad Adel, the chairman of the Majlis Cultural Committee, on Sunday.
He also said Iran is a unique country in terms of historical and cultural characteristics in the Middle East.
Haddad Adel, for his part, said the two countries can make efforts to increase ties to the benefit of their interest despite efforts by some countries to undermine relations between the two countries.
