Young girls’ committee opens in Iran

TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – On the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Masoumeh and the National Day of Girls, the first Committee of Young Girls was formed here on Saturday.

According to the Iranian constitution, the government is responsible to provide facilities to improve the personality of girls and women and observe their spiritual and materialistic rights, said Maryam Mojtahedzadeh, head of the Women and Family Affairs Center.

In an attempt to achieve a healthy, dynamic, and responsible society which “pivots on the foundation of family” it is necessary to set policies and draw up plans for girls, Mojtahedzadeh noted.

The committee is established to flourish the talents and capabilities of young girls and empower girls through using their skills and abilities, explained Mojtahedzadeh who also acts as the presidential advisor on women’s affairs.

She further stated that the committee plans to promote Islamic behavioral patterns among the young girls.

The Committee of Young Girls seeks to actively involve young women in social affairs and solidify their loyalty to revolutionary and Islamic values, Mojtahedzadeh maintained.

In the current week about 998 programs on different subjects are underway to mark the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA).

The programs include sessions for exchanging views on hijab and dignity, and the characteristics of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) as a treasure of piety.

Some talented girls in different scientific, research, cultural and artistic fields are also honored during this week.

On Saturday, an information bank of successful girls was also created on the National Girls’ Day and a festival of writing weblogs and SMSes was also held on the sidelines of the celebrations for Hazrat Masoumeh’s (SA) birthday.

Some recreation and pilgrimage tours are to be held for girls this week.

Saturday fell on the birthday of the Holy Lady, Fatemehh Masoumeh. She was the sister of "Imam Reza" and daughter of "Imam Mousa Kazem".

The government of Iran has named this day "The National Day of Girls".
