Iranian defense minister meets Azeri president in Baku
TEHRAN, Oct. 12 (MNA) – Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev conferred with Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahid in Baku on Sunday.
Aliyev said Iran-Azerbaijan relations have reached the highest level due to their religious and cultural commonalities as well as their independent stances.
Cooperation between the two countries will positively affect stability and security in the region, the Azeri leader noted.
He went on to say that efforts should be made to strengthen ties between Iran and Azerbaijan in all areas particularly in defense field.
The defense ministers of both countries should take major steps to promote defense cooperation, Aliyev suggested.
Vahidi, for his part, described Azerbaijan as a friendly country and called for the expansion of defense ties between the two nations.
He also thanked the Azerbaijani president for his efforts to increase Tehran-Baku ties.
