Tehran will seek compensation from Russia over S-300 deal: minister

TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (MNA) – Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi has said Russia has to pay compensation over breaking the S-300 missile deal.

According to a contract signed in 2005, Russia undertook to deliver the S-300 missile system to Iran.

However, Russia’s president signed a decree last month banning supplies of S-300 missiles and other arms to Iran.

“These issues were mentioned in the contract and must be pursued according to the contract. In that contract the issue of compensation was predicted and (we) act accordingly,” Vahidi told ISNA news agency.

Asked if Iran wants to file a complaint against Russia in this regard, he said, “We will act according to the terms of the contract and we will defend our rights.”

Vahidi also said Iran has put the manufacturing of the S-300 missile on its agenda.
