Indian festival to stage Iran’s “Soldier’s Day”

TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (MNA) -- Hassan Bastani’s “Soldier’s Day” will go on stage at the Bareilly International Theater Festival which will be held from June 26 to 30 in India.

The officials of Bareilly festival invited the play to participate at the festival after watching it at the Sixth Festival of Performing Arts which was held in Medellin, Colombia from August 28 to September 4.

“The secretary of Medellin festival also asked for the play to be performed at a future edition of the festival. We have also received some invitations from Dominican and Argentina,” director Bastani said.

He went on to say that the Adonai Theater Troupe had nine performances in different cities of Colombia, namely Medellin, Cali and Bogota, all of which were warmly welcomed by the audience and Colombian media.

“Colombians are familiar with Persian music and cinema but not Iranian dramatic arts and they are interested in Persian culture,” he said.

Bastani said that he has covered the expenses for the troupe’s trip to Colombia on his own and “Center for Dramatic Arts only promised to cover a part of the expenses for their public performance.” The play has not yet been staged in Iran.

“Soldier’s Day” narrates the story of a soldier who is struggling with himself and the war. He abhors having to fight against other human beings in the war.

Sirus Hemmati and Farnush Farjandi are acting in this play.
