Iran claims title of Asian Youth Water Polo Championship
TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (MNA) -- Iran won the title of the 2nd Asian Youth Water Polo Championship on Tuesday.
Defending champion Iran beat Uzbekistan 8-6 and won first place.
Kuwait defeated Kazakhstan 7-6 in the bronze match.
Iran’s Amirhossein Baraei was named the most valuable player of the tournament.
“We did our best in the tournament. This team has a bright future and it makes sense to invest in it,” Iran coach Hossein Najafi said.
A total of eight teams, namely Indonesia, Iran, Kuwait, Singapore, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand and Qatar took part in the competition held in Indonesia.
Iran will participate in the FINA Men’s World Junior Water Polo Championships which will be held in Greece in late August 2011.
