Resistance against Israel is a struggle of destiny’

TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) -- Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani says Muslim nations must be aware that resistance against the Zionist regime is a “struggle of destiny”.

Larijani made the remarks in an address to the second International Conference on Palestine in Tehran on Saturday, which was the opening day of the gathering.

The increasing awareness of Muslims in the region and their resistance against the Zionist regime are priceless assets for the Middle East region, Larijani stated.

He also called the Palestine issue the “most painful” issue in history, adding that the Zionist regime began to decline after its ignominious defeat during the 33-day war against Lebanon in 2006.

Commenting on the U.S.-engineered peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian Authority officials held on September 2 in Washington, Larijani stated that the main intention of these negotiations was to “create a chance for the Zionist regime” and to “humiliate the Palestinians”.

No one will offer to give the Palestinians their rights and they have no alternative but to resist against the Zionist regime, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani called on international organizations, including UNESCO and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), to take effective measures to make the Zionist regime halt its oppression.

U.S. President Barack Obama made remarks in support of the Palestinians when he was elected in 2008, but he has not yet taken any measures to help the Palestinians, he added.

“We have not seen anything except disrespect toward (the religious sanctities of) the Al-Aqsa Mosque, mass immigration, the imprisonment of Palestinians, and the transfer of arms from the United States to Israel,” Larijani observed.

The Iranian parliament speaker also stated that a referendum should be held in Palestine with the participation of all the displaced people from every religion or group.
