Iran ready for nuclear talks after November 10

TEHRAN, Oct. 30 (MNA) -- Iran notified the European Union that it is ready to resume nuclear talks after November 10.

In a letter to European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili expressed Iran’s readiness to hold talks with the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) “in a place and on a date convenient to both sides.”

Ashton, on Friday, confirmed the receipt of Jalili’s letter, saying, “I think it’s a significant move and we’re now in touch with Iran to see if we can agree the time and the place which is possible.”

The negotiations between Iran and the six countries which includes the United States have been stalled since October 1, 2009, when the two sides met in Geneva.

In his previous letter to Ashton dated July 6, Jalili said that while Iran is still ready to resume talks the 5+1 group, a number of conditions would first have to be met.

Jalili stated that the direction of the talks should become clear and all parties should prove their commitment to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
