Ahmadinejad inaugurates Khorramabad-Zal Bridge Highway
TEHRAN, Nov. 3(MNA) -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated the Khorramabad-Zal Bridge Highway in southwest Iran.
The Khorramabad-Zal Bridge Highway is a part of the Khorramabad–Andimeshk Highway project, which will connect Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan Province, to Andimeshk city in Khuzestan Province.
When completed, the four-lane highway will stretch for 159 kilometers and be 25.8 meters wide. From Khorramabad to the Zal Bridge (about 104 km), the area is mountainous and covered with forests, while the terrain between the Zal Bridge and Andimeshk (55 km) is rolling or level.
The highway will reduce travel time by 100 minutes, quadruple road safety, reduce the road accident mortality rate by 50 percent, save 400 billion rials annually in fuel consumption, and reduce environmental pollution caused by fuel consumption by 280,000 tons annually.
At the opening ceremony, Ahmadinejad described Iran’s development as a great political and cultural mission.
He went on to say that the resolve of the Iranian people has broken the evil domination of the arrogant powers.
In the past, the hegemonistic powers would psychologically pressure their colonies into submission, he added.
Through the use of the most complicated propaganda for over 100 years, the major powers have made many countries believe that their progress, welfare, and dignity depend on their obedience to the arrogant powers, he added.
