Mottaki meets Uzbek, Bangladeshi, Omani, Tajik FMs

TEHRAN, Nov. 9 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki held separate talks with his counterparts from Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Oman, and Tajikistan on the sidelines of the two-day ministerial meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Tehran which opened on Monday.

In the meeting with his Uzbek counterpart, Mottaki highlighted the importance of increased cooperation, particularly in the areas of transportation and transit of goods.

The Uzbek foreign minister also expressed his country’s readiness to host a joint economic commission meeting.

Iran-Bangladesh ties must enter new phase

In another meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart, Mottaki said that the relations between the two countries must enter a new phase.

Commenting on the international developments, Mottaki noted that all nations must take an active part in the management of the world’s affairs.

The Bangladeshi foreign minister, for his part, expressed his country’s support for Iran’s right to peaceful use of nuclear energy and invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Bangladesh.

Enemies seek to create discord among regional nations

Moreover, the Iranian foreign minister held a meeting with his Omani counterpart on Sunday in which he said the enemies seek to create discord among the regional nations.

To increase cooperation with the Persian Gulf states has always been on Iran’s agenda, Mottaki noted.

The Omani foreign minister also said that Muscat and Tehran share similar views on a variety of matters and welcomed further cooperation with the Islamic Republic.

In addition, the Iranian and Tajik foreign ministers met with each other and discussed issues of mutual interest.
