SKorean, Russian presidents hold talks in Seoul.
SEOUL, November 10 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
held talks with his South Korean colleague Lee Myung-bak in Seoul on
Wednesday.
Prior to the talks, the Russian leader was officially welcomed at the
Cheongwadae (Blue House) presidential palace. Royal guards in national
uniforms met the motorcade of the Russian president at the entrance to the
palace and escorted the Russian officials inside as national tunes were
playing. After the national anthems of the two countries were played, the
presidents introduced their delegations to each other. The children
waiving Russian and South Korean flags welcomed the officials.
Medvedev then put his signature in the Guests of Honor book. His visit
to South Korea is "another stage in the development of friendly
Russian-Korean relations which will mark their 20th anniversary in 2010,"
according to the writing left by the Russian leader. After photographing,
the presidents retreated for talks.
The presidents confirmed the strategic nature of bilateral relations
and do not intend to limit relations to the economic sphere.
"We're strategic partners. I'm for cooperation's not being limited to
economics, but continuing in the sphere of security and other fields. I
really hope for cooperation because I'm confident that (Medvedev') visit
will become a symbol of the development of bilateral relations," Lee
Myung-bak said during the negotiations with the Russian president.
For his part, the Russian leader confirmed strategic partnership
between the two countries and called for stepping up bilateral relations.
