German MP admits human rights complaints are mostly politically motivated
TEHRAN, Nov. 27 (MNA)-- German lawmaker Elke Hoffe agreed with Iran’s view that complaints about human rights issues are mostly politically motivated.
Elke Hoffe, head of the German-Iran parliamentary friendship group, made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affaires Ali Ahani in Tehran on Thursday.
Hoffe said there are only few countries in the world who fully observe human rights.
Ahani also said the images depicted of Iran by the Western media outlets are basically “false and distorted”.
Referring to the unjustified sanctions of EU against Iran, Ahani said such measures will not affect the Iranian nation’s determination in pursuing its legitimate nuclear rights.
He also told the German lawmaker that she is noticing that the sanctions have not affected Iranian people’s normal lives due to proper policies adopted by the government.
Ahani said it is expected that Hoffe convey realities in Iran to her fellow parliamentarians in other European states.
Ahani, a veteran diplomat, also said the European Union’s approach toward human rights issues are based on unrealistic and biased reports, saying such approaches are examples that the West is dealing with human rights issues as a political matter.
