MP advises reformists against breaking norms
TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA)-- A senior principlist lawmaker, Mohammad-Reza Bahonar, said reformists can play active roles within the framework of the country’s laws if they do not seek to break the norms.
The reformists must “declare their exoneration” from the post-election unrest of 2009, Bahonar, secretary general of the Islamic Association of Engineers, told a press conference on Sunday.
The veteran lawmaker also said, “We must not only keep the principlists” but also bring some reformists into the “circle of principlists”.
Commenting on the meeting between senior principlists with the president, he said as far as he knows Habibollah Asgaroladi, Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, and Ali Akbar Velayati have held another meeting with the president, but they must be asked about the details.
The meeting has been aimed of healing the rift among the rival principlist groups.
Impeachment is last resort
Asked whether the president must be questioned if he breaches the law, Bahonar said it is not in the best interests of the country.
He added that impeaching ministers is legal as well, but it must be taken as the last resort.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he noted that 60 percent of the Fourth Development Plan has been implemented by the administration.
Iran’s Fourth and Fifth Development Plans are part of the 20-Year Outlook Plan (2005-2025), which is the country’s main blueprint for long-term sustainable growth.
