WikiLeaks documents not credible: Ahmadinejad
TEHRAN, Dec. 1 (MNA) -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the documents published by the WikiLeaks website lack legal weight.
“We neighboring countries are friends, and these malicious moves will have no effect on our relations,” Ahmadinejad told reporters at a press conference late on Monday.
WikiLeaks recently published a document claiming that Arab leaders have been privately urging the United States to take military action to halt Iran’s nuclear program.
Turkey, Brazil will probably participate in nuclear talks
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad said that it is likely that Brazil and Turkey will participate in the planned talks between Tehran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany).
EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has agreed with Iran’s proposal that the talks be held on December 5.
Asked if the Tehran Declaration can serve as the framework for the nuclear talks, he stated, “The Tehran Declaration can be a good basis, but the situation has changed compared to the time when the declaration was issued.”
On May 17, 2010, Iran, Turkey, and Brazil issued a declaration, according to which Iran was to ship 1200 kilograms of its low-enriched uranium to Turkey to be exchanged for 120 kilograms of 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel to power the Tehran research reactor, which produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.
According to the agreement, the exchange was to take place in Turkey under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran.
Publication of Iran’s confidential documents violated international law
Ahmadinejad also said that IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano violated international law when he published confidential documents about Iran’s nuclear activities.
Iran has become globalized
Commenting on the claims that Iran has been isolated, Ahmadinejad said, “In the language of imperialism, words have different meanings… when they say Iran has become isolated, it means Iran has become globalized.”
“Over the past seven months, there has been a 14% increase in the volume of trade between European countries and Iran,” Ahmadinejad announced.
Terrorist attacks in Tehran
Commenting on Monday’s terrorist attacks in Tehran, Ahmadinejad said such actions only make the record of the West and the Zionist regime darker.
A university professor was killed and another one injured in two separate bombings in Tehran on Monday morning.
The two academics were identified as the late Majid Shahriari and Fereydoun Abbasi Davani of the Physics Department of Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University.
