MINISTER: INDONESIA TO APPLY ON-LINE BANNING SYSTEM
Jakarta, Aug 6 (ANTARA) - Law and Human Rights Minister Andi Mattalata said the government had already applied an on-line banning (tangkal) system connected to some check points in the regions.
The minister made the remark here on Wednesday after a meeting with visiting Australian Immigration and Citizenship Senator Chris Evans.
Under the system, banned data could be up-dated by the directorate general of immigration based on a request from authorized institutions, he said.
The institutions with an authority to ban a person are the immigration directorate general, finance ministry, the attorney general's office, the police, military top leaders and the Corruption Eradication Commission.
Popularly called as enhanced checking system (ECS), it could also be displayed in real time at the immigration check posts in some regions.
At present, ECS system is only linked to five check posts such as Soekarno Hatta airport in Jakarta, Juanda airport in Surabaya, Batam, Ngurah Rai airports in Denpasar and Polonia airport in Medan.
