Wheat harvest finishes in southern Kazakhstan

Shymkent, 7 August (Khabar) - Harvest time has finished in the South
Kazakhstan region, whose farmers had a really difficult year. However,
despite adverse weather conditions, the "Birlik" production co-operative in
the Tulkubas district has grown good-quality crops. Local grain-growers
understand that high-quality seeds and good care of the land are necessary
to ensure excellent crops.

Kamysbek Zhabotayev, chairman, production co-operative:
- Our farm harvests approximately 30 000 kilograms of crops per year. Once
we harvested 45 000 kilograms of crops. We know in practice that good seeds
and the rotation of crops provide good productivity.

The farm has its own mill and uses its own staple, which is the reason why
flour in Tulkubas is inexpensive compared to other markets. Flour never
remains unused here.

Kamysbek Zhabotayev, chairman, production co-operative:
- Growing bread is a difficult job. Back-breaking work provides you with
good yield and enriches the whole country.
