Officials point finger at Mossad for attacks on scientists
TEHRAN, Dec. 3 (MNA) -- First Deputy Judiciary Chief Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said that the Zionist regime’s spy agency Mossad is behind the terrorist attacks on the Iranian nuclear scientists.
On Monday, two prominent physicists were targeted by terrorists in two separate bombings. Professor Majid Shahriari was killed and Professor Fereydoun Abbasi Davani was injured in the attacks. The two academics were both on their way to work at Shahid Beheshti University in northern Tehran when they were attacked. The police say that in both incidents, terrorists riding motorcycles attached magnetic bombs to the physicists’ cars.
Mossad, in collaboration with some local elements, has perpetrated these crimes, Raeisi stated in a pre-sermon speech at Friday prayers in Tehran.
He added, “They (the arrogant powers) say that we do not want Iran to acquire nuclear technology and when they see that they have failed, they commit the most heinous actions which are the assassinations of the scientists.”
Raeisi also assured people that the perpetrators of these incidents will be brought to justice.
Israel, Britain, U.S. chief suspects for terror acts
Tehran Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said that Israel, the United States, and Britain are the main suspects behind the terrorist attacks in Tehran.
Ayatollah Khatami told worshippers: “In these crimes, undoubtedly, the Zionist regime, the U.S., and Britain are the main suspects.”
Khatami, who is a member of the Assembly of Experts, also described such terrorist acts as the revenge that the enemies are taking on the Iranian nation which has surmounted the peaks of progress despite 31 years of sanctions.
“The enemies of the Islamic Revolution are well aware that we are not after atomic bombs… since atomic bombs are inconsistent with the doctrine of the Islamic establishment,” he noted.
Khatami also said that the role of Britain in these terrorist acts is more obvious as a British official had earlier announced that his country does not need diplomacy to bring Iran’s nuclear program under control, saying other measures are needed.
West cannot hinder Iran’s progress
On his part the Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the West cannot hinder Iran’s progress through assassinating the country’s scientists.
Larijani made the remarks in an address to a gathering of religious preachers at the Feizieh School in Qom on Thursday.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani stated that Iran did not submit the names of its scientists to the UN Security Council rather they found the names through their spies.
“They (the Westerners) are seeking to pressure the Islamic Republic and when they see that they cannot achieve their goals through pressures and sanctions, they resort to assassinations,” the senior lawmaker noted.
