Ahmadinejad advises the West to take advantage of talks

TEHRAN, Dec. 5(MNA) -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad advised the West to use the opportunity presented by the upcoming talks between Iran and the 5+1 group.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks just ahead of talks between Iran and the major powers (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) scheduled to be held in Geneva from December 6 to 7.

“I hope that they would make the best use of the opportunity provided by the talks and not miss it easily,” Ahmadinejad said on Saturday.

“It is an exceptional opportunity for you (the West). We hope that they had come to their senses and use this opportunity properly.”

He added, “We are ready to hold talks based on respect, logic, and law.”

“But you should know that if you want to bully and behave badly again, and infringe on Iranian nations’ rights, and seek to deceive (us), the Iranian’s nation response will be the same firm response that you have received over the past 30 years,” he stated.

Ahmadinejad also advised the Western governments to adopt a positive attitude toward Iran’s nuclear issue.

“If you are honest and seek to achieve positive results from the negotiation, first you should recognize the justice and respect, and secondly you should recognize Iranian nation’s rights and stop showing hostility,” he said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ahmadinejad again emphasized that Iran will not compromise on its inalienable right to nuclear technology for civilian purposes.

“We will not negotiate on our absolute rights. A country’s absolute right is like that country’s independence and is non-negotiable.”
