Indonesia plays prominent role in Asia, Iran says
TEHRAN, Dec. 6 (MNA) --Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki stated today that Indonesia plays a prominent role in Asia, the ASEAN organization, and the UN.
Talking to Chairman of the House of Regional Representatives of Indonesia Irman Gusman, Mottaki said Iran and Indonesia’s history is full of friendship.
He said Tehran and Jakarta share common interests and concerns and there has always been a political will for expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
The foreign minister also called for boosting economic, cultural, social, and international cooperation with Jakarta.
Pointing to the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) conference early November in Tehran, Mottaki said unity should be strengthened in Asia.
He further noted that Iran and Indonesia can cooperate in restructuring the international system in efforts to administer justice in the world.
For his part, Irman Gusman said Indonesia’s history is intertwined with Persia and there are still Persian relics in Indonesia. Gusman also called for closer ties with Tehran in different areas
