Africa needs unity, Iran VP tells Djiboutian PM

TEHRAN, Dec. 7 (MNA) -- First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi stated on Monday that the African nations should close their ranks to free themselves from the domination of the bullying powers.

Rahimi made the remarks in talks with Djiboutian Prime Minister Dileita Mohamed Dileita in Tehran.

Rahimi called Africa a vast continent with abundant resources and said fortunately the vigilant African nations are taking initial steps to rid themselves from the yoke of the arrogant powers.

He added that the bullying powers exploit nations through different ploys: one day through colonialism, another day under the pretext of the campaign against terrorism, and now under the cover of the fight against pirates in the Horn of Africa.

The vice president further emphasized the need to expand ties with Djibouti and expressed Iran’s readiness to share its technical know-how with the country.

For his part, the Djibouti prime minister appreciated Iran’s views towards African countries and called for investment in his country by Iranian companies.

Mohamed Dileita also asked Iran to back his country in the fight against pirates.

He also said the arrogant powers first attempted to portray a distorted image of Iran to the world, but now nations across the globe have found out about Iran’s peaceful nuclear drive.
