Broadcasting of Olympic Games in Kazakhstan
Almaty, August 8 (Khabar) - The "Khabar" Agency has obtained exclusive rights to broadcast the Beijing Olympics which will be shown on the 'Khabar" and "Yel Arna" channels between the 8th and the 24th of August. Up to 6 competitions a day will be available to Kazakhstan's viewers.
Timur Kamashev, sport programmes producer, "Khabar" Agency:
- The licence gives us an opportunity to show all the competitions without exception. The "Khabar" Agency used a differentiated approach to broadcasting - we analysed Kazakhstan's winning chances in certain sports and found out in which of them Kazakhstan can enter the top three or, at least, ten and clinch the awards. The major amount of broadcasting time was given to boxing as it is Kazakhstan's main sport.
The "Khabar" agency has shown numerous Olympic competitions in the past, including the Summer Olympics in Sydney and Athens, the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and Turin as well as European and World football cups.
"Khabar" has ensured it receives around 200 hours of Olympic broadcasting - twice the amount it had for the Athens Olympics, and two channels connected to the tournament.

- Most of the broadcasting material will be live shows. In some cases the shows will coincide on the two channels due to the large number of
competitions. We tried to give more air time to early morning or late night competitions to suit the needs of all fans.
Two commentator teams comprised of competent experts are on duty during the entirety of the Olympics.
Live broadcast of the opening ceremony for the 29th Summer Olympic Games will begin at 18:00 on "Yel Arna" and "Khabar" television channels on the 8th of August as a broadcasting signal test control is underway in the agency's studio control rooms.
