Ex-MP arrested on security charges
TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (MNA)-- A former reformist lawmaker, Mahdi Shakouri-Rad, was arrested once again on security charges.
According to the Office of Tehran Prosecutor website, Shakouri-Rad was arrested and sent to prison on a number of security charges including spreading false news and launching propaganda campaign against the Islamic system.
Shakouri-Rad, lawmaker from 2000 to 2004 and a member of the banned Islamic Iran Participation Party, had previously been arrested on the charge of involvement in the political unrests following the June 2009 presidential election. He was later released on bail.
Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi has also confirmed the report that four journalists of the pro-reform daily Sharq were arrested last Tuesday.
They have been arrested on “security charges,” he told on Thursday.
