Gates has poor understanding of Iran’s defense strategy: general

TEHRAN, Dec. 12 (MNA)-- Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri said U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates does not have a clear understanding of Iran’s defense strategy.

Robert Gates has claimed Iran’s neighbors are clearly concerned about what he called Tehran’s “aggressive behavior” and support international sanctions aimed at curbing its nuclear program.

“You can see the general support in the region for applying the sanctions and for doing what we can to make the sanctions effective and try to influence the Iranian government to walk away from their nuclear weapons program,” Gates told reporters on Friday.

Jazayeri told that “the Islamic Republic of Iran’s defense policies are based on certain rules and doctrines, and superficial people like U.S. defense secretary have not a proper understanding of them.”

The claim by Gates that regional countries are concerned about Iran’s actions falls within the Iranophobia project, the general noted.

He also described the recent U.S. propaganda campaign against Iran as a “psychological warfare.”
