ANOTHER DEATH-ROW CONVICT RIO ALEX BULO EXECUTED
Purwokerto, C Java, Aug 8 (ANTARA) - Rio Alex Bulo, death-row convict on a murder case, was executed by a firing squad in Cipendok village, Cilongok subdistrict, Banyumas district, Central Java, at 24.00 pm on Thursday night.
"The execution was carried out at 24.00 pm and he was declared dead ten minutes later by Dr Hermono," assistant to the general crime affairs of Central Java's High Prosecutor's Office, Monang Pardede said on the sidelines of the autopsy of Rio's body, at the wee hours here on Friday.
He said that when he was to be executed Rio seemed quiet and did not say anything. Before the execution was carried out Rio received religious advices from spiritual teacher Qoribun.
After the executing prosecutor read the letter of order for the implementation of the death penalty, the firing squad carried out its task.
Rio's body was taken to Margono Soekarjo hospital at 2.30 am on Friday for an autopsy.
Rio's wife Tuti Alawiyah who did not accompany her husband when he was executed came to the hospital to see her husband's body.
She was however refused entry into the autopsy room but waited outside before she left.
Rio Alek Bulo was sentenced to death for murdering noted lawyer Jeje Suraji in Purwokerto, Central Java, on January 21, 2001. His appeal for a judicial review was rejected on March 25, 2008.
