Alstom Transport eyes Hanoi metro projects

Hanoi (VNA) - The French leading group Alstom Transport expects to take part in Hanoi 's first ever metro system projects as a contractor of equipment.

Alstom Transport Managing Director in Asia and the Pacific Tom Richardson
spoke of the desire when meeting with Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's
Committee Nguyen Van Khoi on August 7.

Khoi revealed that the metro route linking the Hanoi station and Nhon in
the outlying district of Tu Liem is estimated to cost more than 500 million
Euro sourced from official development assistance (ODA) capital, including
over 200 million Euro from the French Government.

The official also briefed his guest on the Hoan Kiem Lake-Thang Long bridge
metro project with an investment of 1.2 billion USD and the other connecting
Ngoc Khanh (Dong Da district) with Hoa Lac, a new urban centre more than 30
km away from the capital's heart.

Present in Vietnam since 1989, the group engaged in a number of projects
