Tazieh performances to go on stage in Iran`s south
TEHRAN, Dec. 18 (MNA) -- Kish,91.5-square-kilometre (35.3 sq mi) resort island in the Persian Gulf and a part of the Hormozgān ,the southern province of Iran, will host performances of tazieh (Iranian passion play) beginning December 18 for ten consecutive nights.
The event organized by the Deputy for Cultural and Social Affairs of the Kish Free Zone Organization will be held at the Kish city hall.
The performances will be staged by a theater troupe organized by tazieh expert Azim Musavi.
Different kinds of tazieh on different characters of the day of martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), Ashura, named ‘Moslem ibn Aqil’, ‘Hor’, ‘Hazrat Ali-Akbar (AS)’ and ‘Hazrat Abbas (AS), the famiy and followers of Imam Hussain who were martyred on Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, the day that Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred, will be performed at the venue, he mentioned.
“Our troupe is now performing tazieh at the Niavaran Cultural Center and the Azadi Tower in Tehran,” he concluded.
The performances will be held on the occasion of Muharram, the lunar month that marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and a number of his followers.
