OLYMPICS (BADMINTON) - MARIA KRISTIN BEATS JULIANE SCHENK
Beijing, Aug. 9 (ANTARA) - Indonesian shuttler Maria Kristin bet her German rival Juliane Schenk 18-21, 21-18, 22-20 at women's singles match, round of 64, at the first day Badminton event of Beijing Olympic Games 2008, here on Saturday.
"In the first set, I did not play good enough, therefore I often made mistakes," Maria Kristin told the press after finishing the game which was held at Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium.
Kristin, a finalist in this year's Uber Cup, said she was a bit nervous playing in the first day of the Olympics.
She said that another factor which affected her performance was a quite strong wind which blew during the match.
