Iran`s Majlis Security Committee votes to fully cut ties with Britain
TEHRAN, Dec. 20(MNA) -- The Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee voted to completely cut diplomatic ties with Britain, MP Mohammad Karami-Rad announced on Sunday.
Talking to reporters, Karami-Rad said that in a session held on Sunday, the committee members decided to completely cut ties with the British government.
“However, a number of lawmakers called for reduction of ties with Britain, but finally the MPs decided to fully cut relations with Britain,” added Karami-Rad, a member of the Majlis committee.
He also announced that the decision made at Sunday’s session will be submitted to the Majlis presiding board.
Last year, the committee urged the Foreign Ministry to reduce the level of diplomatic relations with the British government due to its hostile attitude toward Iran and its interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
In addition, the committee members criticized British Ambassador to Iran Simon Gass for his recent remarks, Karami-Rad stated.
Simon Gass has recently written a note in his blog to mark the International Human Rights Day (December 10) in which he has accused the Islamic system of violating political and civil rights and imposing restrictions on the activities of the journalists and political activists.
MP urges Foreign Ministry to expel British ambassador
In a notification on Sunday, MP Mehdi Koochakzadeh called on the Foreign Ministry to expel Simon Gass so that the dignity of the Iranian nation is not undermined.
This is the Iranian nation’s demand, Koochakzadeh stated.
