Iran`s Leader hails disabled Iranian athletes for Asian Para Games

TEHRAN, Dec. 22 (MNA) --Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a message commended disabled Iranian athletes after finishing in fourth place at the 2010 Asian Para Games.

The message is as follow:

In the name of God,
Thank you to the beloved and diligent youths for making the Iranian people happy and proud in sports arenas.

God grant you happiness and bless you.


Iran finished fourth in the Asian Para Games, bagging 80 medals, 27 of which were gold.

China topped the medal table with 391 medals including 185 gold.

Japan came second with 103 medals (32 gold), and South Korea finished third with 27 gold medals and 103 medals in total.

A total of 2,512 athletes, 1,286 officials, 1,096 technical officials of delegations from 41 countries and regions of Asia and 2,558 journalists from 185 media outlets took part in the Asian Para Games.

74 athletes from 13 delegations broke 82 Asian records 74 times, 31 delegations shared medals, and more than 470,000 spectators attended the Asian Para Games.

The Asian Para Games was held in Guangzhou from December 12 to 19, two weeks after the conclusion of The 16th Asian Games.
