18 Jundullah terrorists arrested in Pakistan: report
TEHRAN, Dec. 25 (MNA) -- Pakistani security forces arrested 18 members of the terrorist group Jundullah, an informed source told the on Friday.
The informed source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also said that the new leader of the Rigi terrorist group, Mohammad Zaher Baluch, is among those arrested.
Pakistani local sources have also confirmed his arrest.
However, Iran’s Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Ali Abdollahi said that he neither dismisses nor confirms the news on the arrest of Mohammad Zaher Baluch.
“This news has been published on websites, but we have not yet received any official news and cannot confirm or dismiss (it),” Abdollahi stated.
During a telephone conversation on December 20, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari to order the country’s security forces to immediately arrest terrorists behind the deadly bombing attacks inside Iran’s border province of Sistan-Baluchestan and hand them over to Iran.
On December 15, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside a mosque in the southeastern city of Chabahar during a Shia religious ceremony, killing 39 people and injuring more than 100 others. Women and children were among the victims.
The terrorist group Jundullah claimed responsibility for the bombing.
The members of the terrorist group Jundullah use Pakistan’s soil as their safe haven for attacks in Sistan-Baluchestan, a province bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan.
