Iran`s acting FM calls for utilization of Iranian expats’ potential

TEHRAN,Dec. 26 (MNA)-- Iran`s acting Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi delivered a speech at the conference, in which he called for the utilization of Iranian expatriates’ potential to help the country’s efforts to make progress.

The presence of Iranian academics, artists, and businessmen in foreign countries has opened up a great opportunity for Iran, he said.

“Due to global developments, communication has become easier and the world has become smaller, so we can take maximum advantage of Iranian expatriates’ potential,” Salehi noted.

Modern communications have facilitated the transfer of expertise and technology, making it easier for Iranian specialists who live and study in foreign countries to share their experiences with their compatriots, he added.

On the brain drain, he said that studies have been conducted to discover the reasons behind the emigration of Iranian specialists and academics to other countries, adding that even in the current situation, Iranian universities can use the experiences of these Iranian academics by inviting them to work as visiting lecturers and researchers for a few months each year.

Salehi also said that Iranian artists, businessmen, and industrialists working in other countries have the potential to help the country, so the government should make a plan to utilize their talent.
