Food prices to decline in Iran : Iranian official

TEHRAN, Dec. 26 (MNA) –- Iran`s deputy commerce minister stated that the administration has taken special measures for decreasing food prices.

Mohammad-Hossein Nekoui-Mehr said that petrochemical products used for packaging foodstuff will soon have lower prices and as a result there will be a decline in foodstuff prices.

The official stated this move is significant at a time when the subsidy reform plan is being implemented.

He said that some 7,000 products are currently being monitored by the commerce ministry to stop any increase in the prices of general commodities.
