MAN KILLED IN WAMENA INCIDENT MAY BE HIT BY STRAY BULLET


Jayapura, Aug 10 (ANTARA) - Otinus Tabuni (41), was allegedly killed by stray bullet after hoisting the "Bintang Kejora" (morning star) flag side by side with the United Nations and Red and White flags in Sinabuk square observing an indegenous day in Wamena on Saturday (Aug 9).

Papua Chief Police Detective Senior Commissioner Paulus Waterpauw when asked by ANTARA to give a confirmation Sunday night said that during an autopsy, the doctor found a bullet embedded in the victims's right waist.

The bullet for further investigation will be sent to the forensic laboratory in Makassar, and a special team from the National Police Headquarters and the Makassar forensic laboratory will be sent to crime scene in Wamena.

So far, 14 people, including 11 police personnel, had already been questioned regarding the fatal incident.

On Monday (Aug 11) two platoons of Papua Police Mobile Brigade will be dispatched to Wamena to secure the victims' funeral process.
