Iran`s Majlis votes for formation of sports and youth ministry in Iran
TEHRAN, Jan. 2 (MNA) – Iranian parliament on Sunday gave final approval to the establishment of sports and youth ministry and voted against a proposal calling for the appointment of Tehran mayor by interior minister.
According to the first ratification, the Physical Education Organization and the National Youth Organization will be merged to form sports and youth ministry.
Out of 212 MPs, 157 voted in favor, 44 voted against and 11 abstained.
On December 30, the Majlis had given its initial approval to the merger.
The lawmakers who pushed for the formation of the ministry say it will hold officials responsible for sports and youth affairs accountable to the Majlis.
