Iranian lawmaker says Iranian Azeris honor their nationality
TEHRAN, Jan. 5 (MNA) -- Recent remarks by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who has proclaimed himself as the leader of all Azeris in the world is purely ‘imaginative’, Iranian MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Tuesday.
“Such kinds of imaginations that cross the mid of Azerbaijani leaders are not new,” Boroujerdi told .
Azeris account for about 24 percent of the Iranian population.
Boroujerdi said it is just a mere imagination that Iranian Azeris are led by a a foreign official.
The Iranian Azerbaijanis are proud that they are Iranians, he stated.
Aliyev, in a message to congratulate the New Year, has called himself the leader of all Azeris in the world.
