Iraq’s Jaafari holds talks with Iranian Acting Foreign Minister
TEHRAN, Jan. 5 (MNA) -- Head of the Iraqi parliament Shia faction Ibrahim Jaafari met with Iranian Acting Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi here on Tuesday.
Salehi said Iran hopes Iraq reaches the “position it deserves in the near future.”
He also said that Iran is ready to expand economic and commercial ties with Iraq.
Jaafari also said that Iraq needs help and support of its neighbors.
“We should use Iran’s experiences in dealing with the issues facing our country like poverty,” the former Iraqi prime minister added.
He also thanked Iran for playing a positive role in the formation of Iraqi government.
This was the first visit of Iraqi officials to Iran after the formation of Iraqi parliament.
