Quake strikes Iran’s Fars province, 16 injured
SHIRAZ, Fars Province, Jan. 5 (MNA)-- An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit the city of Sepidan in Fars province on Wednesday morning, injuring 16 people.
Rescue operation is underway, official said.
A number of old houses in rural areas have been damaged and seven villages have been severely damaged.
At least five aftershocks have occurred after the main quake.
The earthquake also rocked other cities in the province including the capital city of Shiraz.
