Thai FM Tej leaves for official visit to Laos

BANGKOK, Aug 12 (TNA) - Thai Foreign Minister Tej Bunnag left here
Tuesday for a two-day official visit to neighbouring Laos and to follow-up development projects earlier agreed by the two governments..

Dubreikbed as a 'familiarisation trip, Mr. Tej, appointed to his post in late July, is scheduled to confer with his Laotian counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith, also deputy prime minister, in the capital of Vientiane Tuesday.

Mr. Tej will meet later with 'Thai team' officials to listen to their
reports about that country as well as telling them of theassigning
government's policy to them.

On Wednesday, Mr. Tej will pay a courtesy call on Laotian Prime Minister Buason Buphavan before traveling by car to Thailand's northeastern province of Udon Thani to preside over the opening ceremony of a seminar entitled 'Thailand-Laos Cooperation on Education'.

The Thai foreign minister will inspect a passport mobile unit at Udon
Thani city hall before retuning to Bangkok that evening.

The two neighbours are also members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). (TNA)
