Iran`s presidential advisor visits Moscow to follow Caspian Sea affairs
TEHRAN, Jan. 16 (MNA) -- Mohammad-Mahdi Akhoundzadeh, Iranian president’s special advisor for Caspian Sea affairs, traveled to Moscow on Saturday to follow agreements reached by Caspian Sea leaders in Baku in November.
Caspian Sea states are Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan.
The states have agreed in principle to ban the hunting of caviar-producing sturgeon in the Caspian Sea for a five-year period. They also agreed to draw up delimitation plans to fix the width of national maritime zones to 24-25 nautical miles.
Environment experts from the five Caspian Sea littoral states were also tasked with outlining the two measures within three months.
Talking to reporters, Akhoundzadeh said so far more than 10 expert meetings have been held on Caspian Sea issues.
Asked about the Caspian Sea legal regime, special advisor said a probable meeting will be held next month in Baku to examine the issue.
